The phrase I’ve heard time and time again, “I’ve had kids, I can’t look good anymore,” really gets under my skin. This is one of the most untrue statements. It’s an excuse not a reason. They should say, “I’ve had kids but I worked really hard to get back to my old self!” Guess what you have to do to achieve this goal?! No crazy tricks, no pills and no diet plans. It’s work out everyday and eat healthy! I’m not saying you can’t splurge on a piece of apple pie every now and then. I’m just saying stay active and eat right! There’s an insane amount of pins on Pinterest for those! Use your imagination 😉 or Pinterest’s imagination! I like hers better anyway.

Workout everyday! Yoga is one of my favorite workouts. Relaxing and burning calories at the same time?! Yes Lord 🙌 You have to mix it up though, cardio and strength training; not one or the other. It won’t happen over night; slowly but surely you will see your old self coming back together! Don’t have the money or time to go to the gym? Me either! I get most of my workouts from Pinterest but I also like #shoutout! I know that it’s hard but once you get into a daily routine it’ll just become another part of your day! Exercise is the most under used antidepressant! It just makes you feel good.

You have to eat right! Once you get the hang of it your body won’t want go back. Even the hubby can’t eat too many sweets anymore cause he’s so used to eating well! This has even been proven to improve your mood! Drink lots of water, at least 3 glasses per day! I always just keep my tumbler filled up (monogrammed of course). Im gonna share a few recipes below that are real favs around our house!

For the kiddos, one thing I do with Aubrey is no juice. Babes can get so addicted to sugar. They have enough in their diet, they don’t need it in their drinks! So, we are a water only house. (Don’t think I’m being mean, all I drink is water too!) Also, fresh fruits and veggies! And whole grain snacks! She is pretty picky so I know how that goes but there are ways to pack the nutrients in! Toddler muffins have been a big hit around here! Recipe below. Another thing I’ve found with Aubrey is her taste buds change constantly! One day she’ll hate something and the next day she’ll love it. So, just try to keep mixing things up.

God gave us these bodies to live in, so let’s take care of them!

Chicken Salad Stuffed Peppers
• 1 lb chicken breast
• two stalks of celery
• 1 hard boiled egg
• 3 or 4 pickle spears (we like claussen dill)
• 1/3 cup of mayo
• salt and pepper to taste
• 3 yellow peppers

Directions – Cut up your chicken breasts into chunks and boil until cooked all the way through. Boil your egg. If you have a food processor, it really makes things so much easier! Just toss everything in there (excluding your peppers) and blend until done. If not, you might be choppin for a little while. Wash your peppers, cut into halves, and fill with your chicken salad!

This recipe is so easy and delicious! I usually serve it with a side of sliced oranges. 😉

Cabbage Steaks w/ Sweet Potato Fries
Cabbage Steaks
• 1 large head of cabbage
• olive oil
• garlic powder
• salt and pepper
Sweet Potato Fries
• 1-2 sweet potatoes
• olive oil
• garlic powder
• salt

Directions – Cabbage: Pre-Heat your oven to 350*. Wash and then slice cabbage into about 1 inch thick slices. Put on greased pan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for about 35-40 minutes.

Sweet Potato Fries: Wash and then slice into fries. Put on greased pan. Sprinkle with salt and garlic powder. Cook for 10 minutes. Flip them over. Cook for another 10 minutes.

This recipe is also incredibly easy and healthy! These fries are one of Aubrey’s favs! 😋

Toddler Muffins
• 1/4 cup of brown sugar
• 1/4 cup of apple sauce
• 2 bananas
• 2 large carrots
• 1 jar of organic butternut squash baby food
• 2 eggs (brown cage free)
• 1 cup of flour
• 1/2 cup oat bran flakes (I used Uncle Sam Toasted Whole Wheat Berry Flakes and Flaxseed – in the breakfast isle)
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (you can make your own with 2 tsps of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of ginger, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp of ground cloves)
• 1/2 tsp of salt

Directions – Preheat oven to 375*. Grease your muffin tin. Put bananas and carrots into food processor and pulse until done. Beat brown sugar and apple sauce in a bowl with mixer. Add bananas, carrots, jar of squash, and eggs to bowl; mix until done. Then add the rest of your dry ingredients. Bake for about 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean!

Aubrey loves these (and so do we 😜)!
